Looking out for our community and supporting local initiatives
As areas across B.C. continue to be impacted by the recent catastrophic flooding, Wanson Group looked for ways to do our part for the community that we’re in.
Reflecting on our commitment to help build and support our community, our Clarion Hotel & Conference Centre Abbotsford has donated all its perishable food items, following a decision to temporarily close down for restoration.
The hotel staff, including the chef, also helped evacuate more than 100 guests safely from the property, while providing food, blankets and additional help.
Situated just off the Trans-Canada Highway and minutes away from the Canada-U.S. border, Clarion Hotel Abbotsford has been serving the community as an important hub in the Fraser Valley. Having suffered extensive damages from the flooding, the hotel and conference centre will be closed for restoration for a period of around six weeks, currently targeting early January for reopening.
More updates will be provided soon.
Similar to last year, the event was held virtually while friends of the foundation were invited to connect with world-renowned scientists through the immersive, hybrid digital platform EventHive VX.
Highlights of the evening include a feature on Prostate Specific Membrane Antigen (PSMA)-PET, and the profound impact it’s having on managing and curing prostate cancer. A state-of-the-art imaging technology, it will provide hope to the over 3,500 individuals a year who receive a prostate cancer diagnosis in our province.
Last year, a total of $8.2 Million dollars was raised, moving one step closer to achieving their mission of breaking down cancer — and we’re proud to have been a part of this grand journey.
